CERDS
Terms of Trade
Application for enrolment onto one of our courses is seen
as acceptance of the following terms. Please read the following
information carefully.
1.
Company - The name and address of the supplier
is Centre for Educational Research & Developmental Studies,
(CERDS), 2nd Floor, Sharon Buildings, K.K. Road, Kottayam,
Kerala, India. To correspond with us or in the event of
any complaint, please contact us at the above address or

CERDS office hours are 09.00 – 17.00 IST Monday to Friday.

2. Enrolment - acceptance on the course
is at the discretion of the Course Director. Should an applicant
be deemed unsuitable, prospective students can expect an
explanation and a full refund of the course fee.
3. Pricing - CERDS provides Montessori
Teacher Training, distance learning courses by e-mail or
correspondence. Course prices can be found on the Course
Prices page of our website or our application
form and are held until the date stated on that page. The
prices are the same worldwide. Rupee prices are fixed but
Dollar, Euro and Sterling prices may change subject to fluctuation
in the exchange rate.
4. Postage costs - CERDS accepts the postage
costs for all outbound mail. There are no postal charges
for any correspondence course. Additionally there are no
postal charges on any course conducted via e-mail. Postage
to CERDS and any additional costs in contacting us (e.g.
telephoning or faxing) are met by the student. Additionally,
CERDS may recommend the purchase of some books for help
with the course and beyond. The student meets the costs
of book purchase although our recommended reading list is
kept to a minimum.
5. Method of payment - Students pay at point of
sale.
By
Internet - on the secure enrolment form on our website
we accept MasterCard or Visa. If choosing to pay over the
Internet, confirmation or receipt and payment will be sent
via e-mail. This details the date, delivery details, type
of course, payment type and amount.
By post - if you choose to pay by post, we accept MasterCard
or Visa, personal Sterling cheques, Dollar cheques, postal
orders for Sterling or Euros, International Money Orders,
direct bank transfer, Visa Electron Solo or Switch payment.
You can choose to pay in the following currencies: Dollar,
Euro or Sterling. A physical receipt also be posted to the
student.
6. Split payment - Students can pay in 2 equal
instalments, 60 days apart. Cheque payments: Cheques are
to be sent at the time of enrolment, the first dated with
the date of enrolment, the second post-dated for 60 days
later. Students who fail to keep to the payment deadlines
will be in breach of contract and risk being withdrawn from
the course by CERDS.
7. Product Returns Policy of courses :
Cooling off period - If for any reason you are unhappy with
your purchase, students may return the course to us within
14 days of the date on the receipt (21 days for postal courses
outside India). Students can expect a full refund. However,
the course must be returned to us in good order so that
it may be resold by us. There will be no refund for course
returned to us after 21 days, of the date on CERDS receipt.
The student meets the cost of returning the course to CERDS.
The refund is normally issued within 30 days of the return
of the course and made in the manner of the initial payment.
We undertake only to refund the cost of the product. We
do not refund postage and packing costs incurred by you
for sending the item to CERDS office. We cannot guarantee
postal efficiency and therefore advise you return all goods
using either guaranteed or recorded or registered delivery.
Please give the reason for the return. Please include your
order number, receipt number, name and address and your
email address. The original receipt must be sent back to
us along with the courseware and a note detailing the reason
for return. To enable us to refund you, this note MUST include
your order number, Name and address. In the case of a faulty
product, please provide a full description of the fault,
wrap the item securely in its original packaging, then send
the package to the address : CERDS, 2nd Floor Sharon, Building,
K.K. Road, Kottayam, Kerala, India.
8. Personal Tutor - access to a personal
tutor is provided for help with the course. The personal
tutor can be contacted by phone/fax or e-mail. The personal
tutor is responsible for the marking and grading all work
and for the written course assessment.
9. Receiving your correspondence course
– after processing your enrolment and payment, CERDS will
send the course on the same day or the next working day.
If a correspondence option has been chosen, modules 1,2
and 3 of the course will be sent by reputed courier agency
or international recorded delivery, as appropriate. The
package will also contain the contact details of the personal
tutor, a receipt detailing the amount paid (including Service
Tax, if appropriate) type of course, date, student’s name
and your roll number.
10. Receiving your course – e-mail: if
an e-mail option has been chosen, you will receive the 1st
three answer booklets direct by e-mail to the e-mail address
as specified on the application form. You will receive e-mail
confirmation of your order (see 5a above for confirmation
details), and information of how to download the study booklets
from our website. You will also be sent contact details
of your personal tutor. Please note the system requirements
for conducting any course via email: Internet access, a
floppy disk on which to download the study booklets and
Microsoft Word ’97 or higher. A receipt will be sent separately
by post. This will contain the amount paid (including Service
Tax, if appropriate) date, type of course, student’s name
and your roll number.
11. Marking and Grading - Students return
their responses for marking and grading to the main address
(listed in 1 above). Their tutor sends the marked work back
with the next module to be completed. A final grade is awarded
based on the total average module grades. Grades given are
either A, B,C or pass. The personal tutor reserves the right
to withhold a grade on a module where sufficient learning
has not been demonstrated. In this case, students may be
asked to rewrite their answers so a grade can be awarded.
We are an independent company and all marking, grading and
assessment is done in-house.
12. Course Completion and Certificate –
We allow students up to a maximum of 12 months to complete
the course. On successful completion of CERDS certificate
and a progress report written by your personal tutor.
13. Work Opportunities - CERDS students
are teaching worldwide. However, successful completion of
our courses does not guarantee employment. Students of our
certificate courses can access information on teaching conditions
and opportunities worldwide via our website. Some of this
information is provided by CERDS students themselves. This
information is general in nature but we are unable to guarantee
complete accuracy. It is for general guidance only and does
not constitute advice in any way and we strongly advise
you to research a country further before travelling abroad
to work, particularly regarding work and visa regulations.
From time to time, recruiting schools and organizations
contact CERDS looking for teachers. We may post details
on our web site and/or contact potential students who may
be interested in these posts. However, these schools are
not known to CERDS and we strongly advise you to vet terms
and conditions carefully before accepting work.
14. Data Protection - CERDS is registered with
the Data Protection Agency. To facilitate certain tasks
and communication between ourselves and our students, we
store some details about enquirers and students electronically.
These include contact details, grades obtained on any CERDS
course and details of email correspondence. However, this
is strictly for use by CERDS only and details will not be
released to third parties. If you have chosen to pay via
email using the secure web site, note that we do not store
debit or credit card details on our databases. We employ
firewall and computer virus protection and take all possible
steps to safeguard personal data. Corresponding with CERDS
by email is seen as acceptance of our data protection policy.
Please be aware that we cannot be held responsible for the
content, procedures or data policies of websites that we
may have links with.
15. Complaints Procedure - If you have
any complaint about any aspect of the service you receive
from CERDS, please put your complaint in writing to the
Course Director, and send to CERDS, 2nd Floor Sharon, Building,
K.K. Road, Kottayam, Kerala, India. . All complaints received
in this form are recorded and processed by the department
responsible..
16. CERDS and Indian law – CERDS is a partnership
that resides in the India and is subject to Indian law.
Transacting with CERDS is seen as acceptance of the terms
and conditions here stated and, should a dispute arise,
any proceedings are to be conducted UK and with in the jurisdiction
of the district court of Kottayam, Kerala, India and are
to be subject to Indian law.
